Our commitment
The Ministry of National Strategy wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or a phone on a slow connection, and people who read Amharic or English.
The website is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What the website does
- Every page has a skip link, named landmarks, and headings in order, so assistive technology can move through it.
- All menus, filters and the language switch work with a keyboard, and focus is always visible.
- Text keeps a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 against its background.
- Pages reflow to a 320-pixel-wide screen without sideways scrolling and remain usable at 200% zoom.
- Movement is reduced or switched off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Amharic and English text is marked with its language, so screen readers pronounce it correctly and Amharic is set in a font with full Ethiopic coverage.
- Interactive targets are at least 44 pixels high.
Known limitations
- Amharic text written for this site is awaiting the ministry’s editorial review, and some news is published in one language only.
- Some photographs do not yet have text descriptions; they are marked as decorative until descriptions are written.
- PDF documents are published as the ministry received them. Their accessibility has not been tested, and some may not work well with screen readers.
- The website has not yet been audited by an independent tester. This statement will be updated after that audit.
