H.E. Abas Mohammed serves as State Minister at Ethiopia’s Ministry of National Strategy. His professional background includes development policy, economic modelling, environmental policy, and climate change. Before his appointment, he served as Chief Executive Officer for Environment and Climate Change Policy, Strategy Analysis and Mainstreaming at the Ministry of Planning and Development. He also represented Ethiopia as its national focal point to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). His technical experience includes contributing to Ethiopia’s tax-benefit microsimulation model, ETMOD, through collaboration with UNU-WIDER. His recent public engagements have addressed reliable national statistics, economic measurement, and evidence-based development planning.
